Myanmar's New Visa-on-Arrival policy (SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY STARTING 1 SEPTEMBER 2010)
Effective 1 May 2010, visas for entry into Myanmar may be obtained upon arrival at the Yangon International Airport or at the Mandalay International Airport.
Following are the requirements for the visa-on-arrival:
1) Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival
2) Visa fees:
a) Tourist visa valid for 28-day stay: $30
b) Business visa valid for 71-day stay (may include an application for renewal of stay permit): $40
c) Social visit visa valid for 28-day stay (may include an application for renewal of stay permit): $40
d) Transit visa valid for 24-hour stay: $18
3) Valid air ticket for exit from Myanmar
4) Proof of accommodation in any of the government-licensed hotels, motels or guesthouses in Myanmar. In absence thereof, the visa apppicant must provide the exact address of his / her host.
5) Two 4x6 cm photographs of the applicant taken within the last 6 months
6) An undertaking to follow all rules and regulations of the Myanmar government, including the Myanmar Immigration Act
7) Children below 7 years of age will be allowed to enter Myanmar visa-free
8) All individual travellers must show at least $300 spending money, whereas travellers on social visit must show at least $600
9) All travellers must take notice of areas that are subject to travel restrictions
10) While in Myanmar, a traveller must report at all times the address of his / her accommodation to the concerned Township Immigration Office through the hotel, motel, inn, guesthouse, home, or office of his / her host
