Phil Embassy Yangon is a website dedicated to inspire people about the Philippines Island. It is known as the third largest English speaking country in the world. It has a rich history combining Asian, European, and American influences. Here is a short glimpse of the island history, prior to Spanish colonization in 1521, the Filipinos had a rich culture and were trading with the Chinese and the Japanese. Spain’s colonization brought about the construction of Intramuros in 1571, a “Walled City” comprised of European buildings and churches, replicated in different parts of the archipelago. In 1898, after 350 years and 300 rebellions, the Filipinos, with leaders like Jose Rizal and Emilio Aguinaldo, succeeded in winning their independence.
Not only that it is rich with history, it also the habitat of some of the world’s wonderful creature that can only be seen in the island. This website was created by Candiz Estrella, a half Filipino and half Spanish Tourism Graduate at the University of La Salle which is now based in Kansas City.
She just missed her home town thus she decided to create a sort of web based journal to refresh her memory and somehow ease the loneliness. During her spare time, she wrote articles about Philippines History and Sceneries then published it online.
